In Memory of George De Leon

We are deeply saddened to share the news that George De Leon, pioneering researcher, author, and one of the most influential figures in the development of the therapeutic community approach to addiction treatment, has passed away.
George’s work transformed the lives of countless individuals around the world and shaped the thinking and practice of generations of professionals working in recovery and rehabilitation. His wisdom, compassion, and unwavering belief in the potential for personal change has influenced thousands of peoples thinking and practice across the world.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives were touched by his work.
At the EFTC we feel so privileged to have been supported by George for many decades. He will forever hold a very special place in our heart.
A full obituary will follow when we try and do justice to the life of the world icon of the TC and recovery movement.
Rest in peace, George.
